FERRARI, ANDREAS: Cardinal; b. at Pratopiano, diocese of Parma, Italy, Aug. 13, 1850. He was appointed in 1885 professor of dogmatic theology and rector of the Great Seminary of Parma. Later becoming vicar-general of Parma, he was consecrated bishop of Guastalla in 1890, whence he was translated to Como in the following year. In 1894 he was enthroned archbishop of Milan, and in the same year was created cardinal priest of Sant'Anastasia. He is a member of the congregations of Bishops and Regulars, Indulgences, and the Index.
